India became independent and a republic due to the
secularism of mahatma gandhi;
negotiating skills of nehru;
love of the land of sardar patel;
peaceful disobedience of lala lajpat rai;
militant attitude of subhash chandra bose;
and sacrifices of bhagat singh, udham singh, chandershkekhar azad, and a thousands of others.
